The End of the World News

Author: Anthony Burgess

Another Stunning Work By Mr. Burgess
I was lucky enough to stumble upon this book in a used book store during a class field trip. Familiar or not with Anthony Burgess, this book follows in the string of greatness. The three individual stories complement each other in many interesting ways, with a biography, a musical, and life in the future. The development of the book is absolutely amazing.

Enderby
Published in Hardcover by W.W. Norton & Company (June, 1968)
Author: Anthony Burgess
Average review score:

A shy poet is forced to face the world, with comic results.
Enderby is a minor poet, with a safe, comfortable existence. He is forced by a chain of circumstance to engage the 60's world of women's magazines, pop stars, and monster movies, along the way losing and recovering his poetic muse. This (or these; ENDERBY was originally published as two novels) book was written while Burgess was under a sentence of death from his doctor, in an attempt to create an estate to leave his wife. Nevertheless, the book is both funny and wise. Along with the comedy, Burgess has interesting things to say about art and the artist. He also has fun, especially with word-play. This is the only book I know in which the word 'onions' appears four times in a row in a perfectly correct English.

Review of Enduring Echoes
Before reading Enduring Echoes I didn't have any idea about how truly dangerous the Cuban missile crisis was to all of us.And how it changed our history. The stories and writings in this book made me at times laugh, and at other times made me have to hold back my tears. It educated me,made me sad, made me happy. It also made me proud. It gave a new understanding of human beings.I'll never again jump to conclusions about people I don't know.I do know I will go back and reread parts of this book over and over again. It is worth more than five stars in its ratings. It is always enlightening and a pleasure to read a book such as Enduring Echoes

Sincerely

Entering the World of the Small Church: A Guide for Leaders
Published in Paperback by Alban Inst (June, 1988)
Author: Anthony G. Pappas
Average review score:

Exceptional insights into the small church!
Pappas's 20 years as pastor at the Harbor Baptist Church on Block Island gave him a laboratory to work in. But he also took his thirst for understanding the small church on the road, doing scores of programs around the country. This book is the best written about understanding the entity called the small church. His comparisons of pastor to missionary and anthropologist really make it clear. And, this book may be out of print, but it's just been revised and rereleased in 2000. So try and find the updated one. Steve Burt, national small church consultant and author of Activating Leadership in the Small Church, and The Little Church That Could: Raising Small Church Esteem.

Entrepreneur® Magazine Encyclopedia of Entrepreneurs

Authors: Anthony Hallett and Diane Hallett
Average review score:

Huge Incredible Book Of Entrepreneurial Inspiration
This book is worth more than 5 stars.

Encyclopedia Of Entrepreneurs is a large, 512 page book, with biographies of over 400 companies. There is an index of companies, and also an index of entrepreneurs.

Although there are a few small photographs of some of the entrepreneurs, the book is really well filled with words. It is not puffed up with blank space or other filler material techniques.

Biographies range from less than a page, to several pages, and are all fascinating. They tell of all the entrepreneurial angles that someone would want; personal lives of the entrepreneurs as well as business information, and how they relate to each other.

Some of the companies covered are: Asylum Records, Baskin Robbins, Chicago Cubs, Dell Computer, Eastman Kodak Company, Fuller Brush Company, The Golden Nugget, The Hoover Company, Intuit Inc., Jet Magazine, Kellogg Company, LL Bean Inc., Murphy Oil Corporation, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Oscar Mayer & Company, Putt-Putt Golf Courses, QVC Network, Radio Shack, Sylvania, Tyson Foods, United Parcel Service, Van Camp Seafood Company, Woolworth Corporation, Zambelli International Fireworks; and hundreds more.

For entrepreneurial inspiration through real life accounts, Encyclopedia Of Entrepreneurs is incredible for it's quality as well as it's enormous quantity.

Enzymes & Enzyme Therapy : How to Jump-Start Your Way to Lifelong Good Health
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill/Contemporary Books (01 April, 2000)
Authors: Anthony J., Dr Cichoke, Anthony J. Cichoke DC, Abram Hoffer, and Abram Hoffer MD
Average review score:

Enzymes and Enzyme Therapy...
Dr. Cichoke shows how every life process depends on enzymes. He covers a broad range of subjects starting with digestion, elimination, co-enzymes, how to obtain more enzymes in your diet and through supplementation. He has a 5-step program of do's and don'ts, including avoidance of aluminum cookware, refined sugars and salt, coffee, and so on. He also tells you how and what to eat and how to prepare foods for the best utilization of enzymes. Dr. Cichoke addresses a large range of health problems from extending life to AIDS and cancer. He also covers medications that affect enzymes, including OTC drugs and prescription drugs, as well as foods that contain enzyme inhibitors. This is a great book! One I believe everyone should own. I also would strongly suggest Dr. Cichoke's book "The Complete Book of Enzyme Therapy". This book is set up very much like the "Prescription for Natural Healing", however it addresses health from an enzyme point of view. I would rate them both a 5-star, must have if you care at all about your health. This book was required reading for my Enzymes class, "The Complete Book of Enzyme Therapy" was not, but after reading this one, I wanted to know more. This book is a great intro to enzymes, the complete book goes even further. It is in fairly simple to understand language if you have a bit of medcial background, you might need a medical dictionary if not.

A great help to understand the Principles of Love
This book, has really helped me a lot to realize what the true love is, showing what sometimes we understand or think love is, and in reality it is not the real love. It goes from perspectives of general aspects, like life and others, to a relationship of husband and wife, I just wish to find someone that also shares many of these perspectives. Enjoy it!!

The Essential Hal Clement Volume 1: Trio for Slide Rule & Typewriter
Published in Hardcover by NESFA Press (01 August, 1999)
Authors: Hal Clement, Mark L. Olson, and Anthony R. Lewis
Average review score:

Long Out-of-Print Stories Resurected
Hal Clement was one of the first "hard science" writers to enter the science fiction field, and has reamined productive over many decades. This volume contains three of his long-out-of-print stories that fans have had trouble finding for many years. If you're not a fan but you like hard-science science fiction, coupled with good writing and a "solve the puzzle" style that keeps you thinking throughout the book, give this a try. The stories may seem amazingly old (the book title tells how he wrote them after all), but they are hardly out of date. Based on human nature (perhaps a bit idealized) and fundamental physics & chemistry, they are just as gripping a read today as they were in the 1950's when they were written.
